Match report Marton Under 12's too hot for Hutton !

Marton's cougars put in a thoroughly professional performance this evening after winning the toss and deciding to bat at Hutton Rudby's Garbutt's lane ground.Opening pair Kirby and Hiser put on a respectable 14 run partnership which combined with extras took the score for 28 for no wicket after 4 overs. Faizan Hussain and Elliot Walker then arrived at the crease and Hussain looking more like Yuvraj Singh began to wield the bat like a club hitting 5 fours on the way to a tremendous 28 no in a partnership of 29 with Elliot, again without losing a wicket. Nathan Welburn and Joe Savage playing wicket keeper tonight, were next to bat and they continued an excellent batting performance by adding 19 for the 3rd wicket partnership without loss. Marton's Liam Clark (that's spelt without an 'e') and debutant Waj Ali took Marton to 300 without loss for the first time ever before Clark was sadly ran out before the total finally reached 310 for 1 wicket ......308 net.

Clearly Hutton Rudby were worried and tried to gain an advantage by not serving any refreshments to the teams at half-time...it didn't work!

Hutton Rudby came to the crease rather nervously and were soon placed on the backfoot. Scott Kirkby making the breakthrough in the first over by bowling Lance. The wickets continued to tumble with 'first ball wonder' Elliot Walker again taking a wicket by bowling Turnbull ! Hiser, took a wicket and the Hussain grabbed a brace before tempting Cosgrove out of his crease and allowing Joe 'stump em' Savage to whip the bails off. Liam Clark, steamed in with a run-up that took in 3 counties en-route to take 2 wickets before Kirby bowled Honeyman to mop the innings up.

A fantastic performance in all aspects of the game by Marton tonight has set the standard which we need to produce every game if we are to win this league....well done and we will see you on Friday!....some people still owe subs by the way!
